Atlas Woodworking is a small hobby gallery in Brisbane, Australia. Each piece is bespoke and manufactured in my home workshop using a combination of hand crafting, CNC routing, and laser etching. All pieces are one-of-a-kind and will not be reproduced. You can purchase pieces below if you like. I also offer a range of custom commission services using your photos and models. These can be a great gift to commemorate special occasions.

Latest Works

Esquie
$75.00

Pine plank with round-over border, finished with beeswax. This is a laser etching of Esquie from E33. Magic rocks not included.

Shen Long
$50.00

Hevea laminate with Roman ogee border. Finished with beeswax. This is Shen Long (Shenron) from the original Dragon Ball. Designed by legendary animator Akira Toriyama, who was also the original character designer for Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest. The join down the middle of the dragon is a bit of a shame, but I feel the imperfections of wood can add to the beauty.

Caro 2
$100.00

Recycled pine 2×4 with roundover border. Finished with beeswax. This is another etched portrait of a model. I chose this image because I had a feeling that the fishnets would translate well in etching. I was not disappointed - the continuous pattern of the fishnets gives an incredible three-dimensional look. Almost like a carving. instagram.com/caro_petitemodel/

McKenna
$30.00

Pine etching with a small chamfered border finished with Monocel liquid beeswax.

A simple etching of the lovely McKenna Grace.

Trapper/Trader and Prospector

Discarded pine 2 × 4 finished with Cabothane Clear. The Trapper/Trader and Prospector are two-thirds of a trio of figures from the game Inscryption. The trader is cleverly designed to invert, creating an optical illusion - you can see this effect on the store page. One day, I will complete the set and list them for sale.

Caro 1
$125.00

Laminated hevea with a chamfered border and clear acrylic finish. This is an etching of a very nice portrait of a model. instagram.com/caro_petitemodel/

Grasshopper

Etching on pine from an old sleeper. This is a reproduction of the Painting “Grasshopper” by Jules Joseph Lefebvre. The original can be found in NGV, Melbourne, Australia.

Draft of Friends at a Wedding

I recently found this among my wood stock. This is the first draft of an etching I did for one of my former students. Unfortunately, I gave the original away without taking any photos. In this draft, the cut was too dark, losing some of the finer details. I was able to fix it in the final version. It is still quite a nice piece. A reminder of an unforgettable night.

Dog on Pumpkin

Tasmanian oak with round over border and Cabothane Clear finish. A picture of my beloved dog Artemis taken at Roma Street Parkland.

Custom Item Request

I can do custom laser etching of your photos in sizes ranging from a fridge magnet to 800 x 800 mm.

Portraits taken indoors or with minimal shadow tend to translate better when etching. Given the nature of my process, these are artists’ interpretations and may not be entirely photo-realistic. They will be bold and stylish. The turnaround time is approximately two weeks plus shipping time.

I can also produce custom routed 3D wooden models; these are generally more complex and have a longer turnaround.

The cost of any custom work depends on the complexity. You can choose from a range of wood types, finishes, and borders.
