The wings are made from pine offcuts, while the body is made from an old merbau decking plank. Finished with orange oil.
This little bird whistle was made without any CNC machining. Just a scroll saw, glue, chiselling and a lot of sanding. There is a wooden reed inside that makes a sound when blown, which you can hear on my Instagram. It was incredibly difficult to cut and align the reed, and it took me several failed attempts to get it right.
The orange oil made the wings a bit orange, which took some of the contrasting white out, but overall I’m quite proud of this piece.
